What is in each file
data/trends.json is one object with lastUpdated, a trends array, and a deals array. Both arrays are flat, no nesting, no references between records. Dates are ISO YYYY-MM-DD; amounts are integers in US dollars.
Trend records

confidence | confirmed when the primary source states it outright, emerging when the underlying event is still developing and the source itself describes it as unsettled. |
body | Longer analysis paragraph on records promoted from the email inbox pipeline. Optional — most trends carry only summary. |
operatorTake | A one-sentence editorial read, written by us. Optional, present only on inbox-promoted records. |
relatedSources | Array of { label, url, type, role } — secondary coverage or product proof linked alongside the primary source. Optional. |
screened | The classifier's verdict object — verdict, reason, screenedAt, and humanVerified when a person confirmed it. Written by the pipeline, not by us. |
updatedAt | ISO timestamp of the last time this record's content changed. Stamped by the pipeline when a record is written; backfilled once from the git history of data/trends.json. It is the page's sitemap lastmod and JSON-LD dateModified — the file-level lastUpdated is when the FILE was last touched, which is daily. |
Deal records

How the data is collected
A scheduled pipeline fetches the RSS and filing feeds listed on Sources, deduplicates against the existing set, classifies each item by category, and stages anything ambiguous for review before it lands. Each item is reviewed by hand, not accumulated automatically: a price move, a marketing announcement, or a second telling of an event already in the set is dropped rather than kept. That is why the counts above grow slowly.
Every record cites a primary source, a filing, a press release, or a regulator's own page. Aggregator summaries are not used as sources, and dates come from the source document, not from the day we found it.
Fetching it
Plain JSON over HTTPS, no key, no rate limit, CORS open. The files are regenerated on every deploy, so a conditional request is worth making.
